Do you really know your friends?

On the afternoon of Nick and Lisa’s wedding, their close friend is found poised on a hotel window ledge, ready to jump.

As the shock hits their friendship group, they soon realise that none of them are being as honest with themselves – or with each other – as they think.

And there are secrets lurking that could destroy everything. Tense, disturbing and clever, My Husband’s Lies is a breath-taking read, perfect for fans of Lucy Clarke and Erin Kelly.

My Review

I thoroughly enjoyed Caroline England's debut novel 'Beneath the Skin' which I remember as having a barrel full of secrets and lies between the various characters. Having been a divorce lawyer, I would assume Caroline England dealt with other people's secrets and lies on a daily basis, which has put her in good stead to create incredible fiction in her debut novel, and now her latest novel 'My Husband's Lies.' Reading a bit like 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' with it's many characters and meetings in various social situations, its about Will and Penny, Nick and Lisa, Jen and Ian and Dan and Geri. Will, Nick, Jen and Dan grew up together and were the 'A-team' at St. Mark's school, and remained very close to each other in their adult life. This was a beautifully crafted story which involved infidelity, mental health issues, the inner struggle with one of the character's sexuality, and dysfunctional family issues. I must say the psychotic episodes of one of the characters (taking great care not to give spoilers here), are illustrated from inside the mind of the sufferer, giving their point of view, which was so insightful for the reader and written in a way I had never experienced before. My Husband's Lies was so powerful in so many different ways, and recommend this as a MUST READ book for 2018.
