My Review

I haven't read all of Anita Waller's books (yet), but I've read enough to realise her characters really shape up well, and I'm not just talking about the bad guys. There's a fine line in developing a protagonist that you really care about and one that is too good to be true and down right boring. In 34 days and the sequel Strategy I really liked Annie a lot. In this book, Captor, Liz Chambers is no exception. But my most favourite character in this book has to be Dan, Liz's son. When he discovers both of his parents individual extra-marital affairs it was a breath of fresh air that the writer didn't take the somewhat overdone route of the bitter and angry child rubbing his parent's noses in it over their indiscretions. Instead, Dan a sensitive child, needed a little time and came to accept that these things happen and is able to readjust his expectations and support his mother. I focussed on this aspect of the novel first because this was the glue that held the rest of the story together and made it such an enjoyable reading experience. For me the plot was unique and I could not fault it.
