My Review:

This is a story of a friendship established since early childhood, but is it a true friendship, or is it as the title may suggest the complete opposite, with devastating effects? Wendy and Nell, went their separate ways around the time that Wendy got married, to what Nell knew to be the worst kind of man. Nell, young, spirited and carefree, travelled Europe, but the two women kept up their friendship by correspondence. I'm a fan of Anita Waller's writing, but this has been an introduction to Patricia Dixon for me. The flow of the book was seamless and the narrative was full of surprises, most of them unpleasant, but made for good reading. All I will say about this is people often appear as they would they would wish to be seen, no matter how well you think you know them. A superb writing partnership which I hope will continue, and I'll certainly be looking up Patricia Dixon.
