My Review:

It has occasionally been a fanciful idea of mine, whilst walking through crowded streets, or on the tube (pre-lockdown), to select random strangers and find out what their stories are. I believe that each one of them would have a story to tell, but in reality would not wish to tell it. We all have secrets. 'Strangers', a novel by Cally Taylor, has created three different people, each of them perhaps lonely and each of them concurrently losing control over their lives and routine and under some sort of threat. The author has artfully linked them together by extraordinary means. We follow Alice, a boutique manageress, Ursula a courier, and Gareth a security manager, and how their parallel lives are being compromised in different ways, undermining their safety and well-being. None of these three people know each other, but they all come together in a climatic ending. Each of the characters had more than one story going on in their lives, each aspect being relevant to the plot. In a nutshell, there are absolutely no dull moments in this book. A gripping story that will not allow the reader's mind to wander elsewhere.
