One of the highlights of the year for me is when the latest DI Geraldine Steel book is released. The trouble is, these stories are so compelling, it takes me less than a couple of days to read them. It's taken the fourteenth book, Deadly Revenge, for Geraldine and her boss Ian to finally get it together as a couple. However, true love never runs smooth, and this is no exception to the rule. But enough said about that without giving away any spoilers. Jessica is victim to an abusive husband, who disappears at the same time as her baby daughter Daisy. Geraldine's investigation is somewhat hampered by Jessica's controlling, obstructive father, David, who as head of the local council considers himself to be an influential person worthy of special treatment from the highest authority. The plot thickens when David receives anonymous death threats regarding his political career, which raises Geraldine and Ian's suspicions that there may be a link to the disappearances in the same family. The end took me by surprise and I hadn't predicted the outcome.
